After saying “YES!” and before saying "I do", comes an unreal night out where you and the closest girls in your life can go out on the town and make a fool of yourselves. One thing's for sure that no matter what, it will be a night to remember, or partially remember? Either way, a good theme for your hen do is a unique way to stamp your bride's personality on the event.
We don't know about you but, at The Foxy Hen, we've seen the same hen party themes milked to death over the past few years. So to help you get inspired, we've selected some alternative hen party theme ideas that we think will be popular in 2020.
We think most would be lying if they said that they had no interest in going to Coachella. However, for a lot of us, it’s on the other side of the world and costs a fortune.
The fashion at Coachella is really just as important to the girls lucky enough to go as the music. To a lot of people it’s MORE important. So why not bring Coachella to you for your hen do with a HENCHELLA festival theme? Instead of settling for a bog standard hen party dress, you and your girls could opt for festival-ready style.
Who doesn’t want to get away with wearing flowers on their heads and glitter face jewellery outside of a festival?
Here are three ideas of what you and you hen party crew could wear...
White Dress: It is a hen do afterall, so why not opt for white dresses for you and your hen party crew? A white dress is a very popular option at Coachella. Pair it with cute sandals, multiple necklaces and hoop earrings and your hen party outfit is sorted. If it’s freezing, bring a denim or leather jacket, just in case!
Denim Shorts: When we think of festivals, especially Coachella, we think of denim shorts and a band tee. Instead of the band tee you could always go for a specially made tee for you and your hen party. Festivals are all about being comfortable, so you could pair it with a trainer or a boot.
Western Style: Another really popular fashion trend for Coachella is Western. This is a really easy ensemble to create. It’s essentially made up of three key pieces; a cowboy hat, fringe jacket and cowboy boots. This could be the option for you if its baltic outside!
If you do choose HENCHELLA for your hen party theme, you’ll also need some hen do accessories for your bride tribe! Make some wristbands or buy them online, design your glitter face paint, search for embroidered tops in your local charity shop and research some boho braids to bring the whole look and theme together.
A hen party festival theme also pairs up really nicely with a hen do glamping weekend! You can share some bubbly under the stars, dance the night away to some chilled out festival music, enjoy real quality time with your bride tribe and you're close enough to town to enjoy a night out! Check out our hen party glamping accommodation options in Carrick-on-Shannon and Kilkenny for some inspiration.
This year marks the 25th Anniversary of, arguably, the most popular sitcom of all time. Below we’ve listed just some of the endless amount of fun hen do ideas for a F.R.I.E.N.D.S-themed hen party.
Hen party dress: You and your posse could dress up as your favourite characters from the show. This gives your team a chance to get creative and also have full control over what they choose to wear. We think we would have to go with Gunther (not). Alternatively, you could get custom made pyjamas or have a hair-styling session so everyone can don The Rachel cut for some hen party giggles.
Hen do accessories: If you are having the party at a venue, at home or in a self-catered house, why not get custom hen party decorations made to make your F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme extend to your decor choices, not just your outfits. We’re thinking t-shirts, mugs or pyjamas with something like “ The One Where Your Hen Gets Married” printed on.
Hen party activities and games: If you are doing a F.R.I.E.N.D.S-themed hen do, you really have to do the famous quiz episode. Make your own quiz that’s all questions about the bride-to-be! Get your crew into two teams and see who knows the hen better!
Even though the last book came out over 10 years ago, Harry Potter is still as popular now than it was back then. With spin off movies coming out over the past few years and Penneys/Primark taking full advantage of it with their abundance of themed merch, it doesn’t look like it’s popularity is going anywhere. Below we have picked some hen do ideas, activities and games to bring some magic to your Harry Potter themed hen party.
Dress: There are a couple of ways you could go with this one. Just like the F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme, you could dress up as your favourite character. However, it might be more fun to get into teams and each team is a different house. You could then use these teams in some themed games or activities on the day.
Hen do games: If your bride loves Harry Potter and a good laugh, it would be absolutely hilarious to see you and your hen party attempting to play Quidditch. There is a global league now that play tournaments? All you'll need are some household brooms or sticks, your favourite house costume and a ball. Even better, make your hen dress up at the Snitch and the seekers have to chase her!
If Quidditch isn't quite your hen party's thing, you could write Harry Potter quiz questions and go around the circle. And if anyone gets one wrong, they could have to down a magic potion (shot of choice) or complete a dare.
Drinks: Make some themed cocktails to look like potions for the perfect hen do tipple. You could even make some disgusting ones and use them as a forfeit for your hen party games!
Decorations: Harry Potter merchandise and decorations are easy to get online or from your local Penneys/Primark. The stuff is everywhere. So it's easy to dress up yourselves and your hen party venue for some magical-themed decor to get you in the mood. Or, if you're feeling really brave, enlist your bride tribe to create some Harry Potter inspired decorations and outfits of your own!
These are just a few of our top picks for hen party themes for 2020. There are countless others to choose from. The most important thing is that the soon to be MRS can get on board with your chosen hen do theme and that she has the best night of her life!
Find out from your hen party committee what they are interested in, what’s relevant to your girls' tastes and what would be the best theme to make your bride's hen party dreams come true!
