Limerick is the third-largest city in Ireland. There are many monuments which are almost 1000 years old. The most important attractions include King John’s Castle from the 12th century, the cathedral of St. Mary and St. John.
However, a Limerick hen party isn’t really so you can sightsee is it? This busy city offers your hen group delicious local food, central accommodation options, a broad range of hen activities and a lively night scene to keep you entertained well into the wee hours.
Local knowledge
In Limerick, you can spend all day walking and sightseeing. There are many historical spots, one of the most visited places is King John Castle or St. Mary’s Cathedral. Limerick visitors very often also visit The Hunt Museum or the Milk Market to try local delicious food.

How to get to Limerick
Traveling to Limerick is very easy and pleasant. There are many transport links that will help you get there, either by road, rail or by air. Shannon International Airport is only located 24km from Limerick city.
From Dublin – 203km
By car: you can drive to Limerick, the best and fastest option is to travel through the M7 motorway. The journey takes approx 2.5 hours
By bus: Buses operate daily to Limerick and they depart from Dublin’s central bus station Busáras. Bus Eireann provides regular direct coach services between Dublin – Limerick. Another option would be Dublin Coach, the express journey takes only 2:45 hours, and the lowest fare cost around ‘¬10- one way. Hen group could also use a private coach service that operates from Dublin to Limerick, JJ Kavanagh & Sons would be one of them.

Galway – 95Km
By car: The journey from Galway to Limerick is only 1:45 hrs long and the best way is to take the M18 motorway.
By bus:The Expressway buses depart from Galway Bus Station with 10 services per day. The route X51 bus travel expresses to Limerick via the M81 motorway.
By train: The Galway to Limerick train departs from Ceannt Station, Galway. For more details please check Irish Rail.
Cork – 99km
By car: The journey from Cork to Limerick takes approx 1.5hrs and the easiest way is to take M20/n20 national road.
By bus:The Expressway buses depart from Cork Bus station. Route 51 bus service travels to Galway and back, passing through Limerick, Shannon Airport, and Ennis en route, before arriving at Galway Bus Station.
By train: Trains depart from Cork Kent Station changing for Limerick at Limerick Junction station. For more details please check Irish Rail.
Belfast – 363km
By car: The journey takes approx 3:45hrs and the best way to get to Limerick from Belfast is through M1 and M7 motorways.
By train: Travelling by train from Belfast is a little more complicated, because of changing trains. First, you need to take a train from Belfast Lanyon Place to Dublin Connolly Station, then take the Luas tram from Connolly Station to Heuston Station, followed by the main Dublin to Cork train. Limerick offers a wide range of hotels that suit everyone’s needs and budget.
The Old Quarter Townhouse: One of the most popular hotels among hen groups is The Old Quarter Townhouse, formerly known as the Boutique Hotel. The hotel has an excellent central location – Little Ellen Street. The Old Quarter Townhouse has been recently renovated and offers newly designed various types of rooms to suit each guest.
Your hen group won’t have to walk too far to try some cocktails, The Old Quarter Pub is located right beside the hotel. The Pub offers live music every weekend!
The City hotel: Another popular hen hotel is The City hotel which is located on Lower Mallow Street, a walking distance to many Limerick bars and attractions. McGettigan’s bar is located on the site of the City hotel and which welcomes many hens and stag groups every weekend.
Travelodge Ennis Hotel: If you don’t want to spend too much money on accommodation, the Travelodge Ennis Hotel is a perfect hotel. The hotel is located 6km from Limerick city centre, sharing a taxi will cost only a few euros both ways. There is a free car park for guests and rooms can sleep between 2-3 people.

Karting is one of the favourite hen activities among hen groups, you and your ladies will receive a decent dose of racing emotions.
