Why Have a Hen Party in London?

Without a doubt, London is one of the best cities in the world for a hen do and it’s easy to see why. The variety is unbeatable. The world is your oyster during a hen party in London, whether you’re exploring quirky Shoreditch, sipping on cocktails during bottomless brunch in Notting Hill or enjoying the finer things in life by the Southbank. The city never feels dull because there’s always so many fun things going on.

The nightlife alone is world class. Soho has that buzzing vibe where you can hop between cocktail bars, traditional pubs and jam-packed dance floors. East London brings quirky spots that are perfect for hens who like something a bit unusual and the West End offers a more glamorous and high-end night out. North and South London also have loads going on with seriously cool neighbourhood bars and fun venues that aren’t overrun with tourists, so your group can really enjoy themselves without being crushed in a crowd.

London is also super practical for hen groups. The Tube, buses and taxis mean it’s easy to hop from one activity to the next without losing half the day in travel and the city is full to the brim with hen-friendly activities. Cocktail making classes, immersive experiences, strip shows, escape rooms, comedy nights and theatre shows are all right there, so your weekend can be whatever you want it to be.

Top 10 Hen Party Activities in London

  1. Cocktail Making – Get ready to shake, stir and sip your way through a fun cocktail making class. A professional mixologist will show you all the tricks of the trade, from muddling to shaking, while you and the girls compete in fun games and taste test your creations. You’ll end up with two to four cocktails each, depending on the package, and loads of hilarious photos of your attempts at bartending. You can even add a meal for a full party experience that sets the tone for the rest of the weekend.
  2. Nude Life Drawing with a Male Model – It’s time to turn your hen do into a cheeky art class. You’ll be sketching a fully nude male model while a friendly tutor guides you through poses and drawing tips. It’s light-hearted, fun and guaranteed to have everyone blushing, laughing and trying not to lose focus while the model is stood there in his birthday suit. Whether your masterpieces are laughably bad or surprisingly good, this class is great fun. It’s a classy yet naughty way to let your hair down, bond with the group and leave with a hilarious souvenir that the bride-to-be will never forget.
  3. Themed Dance Class – Choose from over 40 themes, such as line dancing, 80s, 90s, burlesque, ABBA, Beyonce and so much more. A professional dance teacher will teach you a choreographed routine, then you’ll get to perform it as a group, letting everyone show off their moves. It’s fun, energetic and a little bit cheeky, perfect for boosting confidence and laughter. We know that you’ll totally smash the choreography before heading out for a big night on the town. You might even perform it again on the dancefloor!
  4. Bottomless Brunch – A mid-morning feast and unlimited drinks? Yes please! Bottomless brunch is one of the most indulgent ways to start a hen weekend in London. With a full English, eggs Benedict, pancakes and more on the menu, there’s something for everyone. You’ll clink glasses to the bride-to-be, toast to friendship and enjoy a relaxed few hours before the day’s antics begin. The Best Time of Year for a London Hen Party

Spring (March-May):
Spring is one of the loveliest times for a London hen do as the city wakes up from winter and parks like Hyde Park and Regent’s Park are blooming. March kicks off with the London Coffee Festival, perfect if your hens need a caffeine boost before a busy weekend of fun. April brings the London Marathon, which creates a festival-like atmosphere along the Thames and through central London with loads of street entertainment and cheering crowds. Late April and May see the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, offering a more elegant day out, or the London Craft Week, where you can explore artisanal workshops and pop-up exhibitions. The city is busy but not overwhelmingly crowded and outdoor markets and street food festivals start popping up, giving your group lots of daytime activities before a night on the town.

Summer (June-August):
Summer is peak London energy, with long days and a festival-filled calendar. June is all about London Pride, a legendary weekend of parades, parties and fabulous costumes. It’s a must for any hens looking for a fun celebration and an inclusive atmosphere. Wimbledon dominates July, with a buzz around the city and pop-up viewing areas and themed bars offering a bit of a sporty vibe. August brings the Notting Hill Carnival, a two-day street festival with incredible music, dancing and colourful costumes, perfect if your hen party loves to party hard. Summer rooftop bars, pop-up food markets and riverside bars along the Southbank also make this season perfect for alfresco sipping and sightseeing. Of course, the city is at its busiest during summer, so pre-booking restaurants, activities and transportation is essential for a stress-free hen weekend.

Autumn (September-November):
Autumn is a chic and slightly quieter option for hen parties who want a mix of culture and fun without the busy summer crowds. September hosts London Fashion Week, giving your group a glamorous vibe with exclusive events and maybe even a few celebrity sightings. October is perfect for Halloween-themed experiences across the city, from immersive theatre and cocktail bars serving spooky drinks to fancy dress pub crawls. November brings Bonfire Night with spectacular fireworks at Greenwich Park and along the Thames. The autumn food festivals, like the London Coffee Festival or seasonal pop-ups at Borough Market, are brilliant for foodie hens. The weather is cooler but comfortable for walking between bars, theatres and restaurants, making it a great time to explore the West End or enjoy evening entertainment.

Winter (December-February):
Winter in London is so magical, especially for hens who love festive vibes. December is packed with Christmas markets like Southbank Winter Market and Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, ideal for mulled wine, ice skating and quirky gifts. Theatre productions are at their peak, with classic shows and pantomimes bringing drama and laughs to your hen weekend. New Year’s Eve is legendary along the Thames, with fireworks and parties that make a city celebration feel truly epic. January and February are quieter and perfect for spa weekends, indoor cocktail masterclasses or exploring one of the many museums here without crowds. Winter is ideal for hens who want indulgence, glamour and festive sparkle.

Getting to London for a Hen Do

Getting to and around during your London hen weekend is nice and easy. The city is massive but incredibly well-connected, so moving from bottomless brunch in Shoreditch to classy cocktail bars in Soho or a late-night dance floor in the West End is totally doable without too much hassle or stress.

Trains: If you’re coming from a different city in the UK, London’s rail links are brilliant. From Birmingham, the train to London Euston takes around one hour 30 minutes, from Manchester it’s about two hours 10 minutes to Euston, from Leeds roughly two hours 15 minutes, from Bristol around one hour 45 minutes to Paddington and from Newcastle just under three hours. If your hens are coming from Edinburgh or Glasgow, you’re looking at around four to five hours by train. Check for direct trains where possible to make it easier to get a group together without the stress of multiple connections.

Driving: Driving into London can feel intimidating, but it’s not impossible. The M1, M4, M3 and M25 all come into the city, depending on which direction you’re coming from. From Birmingham it’s about two hours, from Manchester roughly four hours, and from Brighton just under two hours. Parking in London isn’t exactly cheap or effortless, but there are secure multi-storey car parks dotted around key areas like Westminster, Southbank and Shoreditch. Many hotels offer discounted rates for guests, so it’s worth checking in advance. Generally though, we wouldn’t recommend bringing a car to London unless you have to. With great public transport when you get here, you won’t really need it.

Planes: London has several major airports, making it super accessible for hens flying in from other countries. Heathrow and Gatwick are the biggest, with flights from all over the UK and Europe. From Heathrow, it’s around 45 minutes into central London by taxi or Heathrow Express train, while Gatwick is about 30 minutes by Gatwick Express to Victoria Station. Stansted and Luton are slightly further out, with trains and coaches whisking you into the city in about an hour. London City Airport is perfect if you’re coming from Europe, and the Docklands location puts you close to Canary Wharf and East London nightlife.

Getting Around London During Your Hen Do

Walking: London is massive, but some of the best nightlife areas are walkable or a short tube ride away. Covent Garden, Soho and Leicester Square are all within easy walking distance of each other, making bar-hopping easy without needing transport. Walking also means more spontaneous photo ops, sightseeing stops and the chance to stumble across quirky little bars or street performers that make your hen weekend extra memorable.

Taxis: If your group is in high heels, it’s raining or you just want to travel together in comfort, London has a fleet of taxis, black cabs, and rideshares like Uber. For bigger groups, private minibuses or party buses are brilliant. Some even come with music, lights and a bit of bubbly on board, turning a drive from a bar to a club into part of the fun. It’s perfect if you’re heading to a venue outside central London or want a dramatic, diva-style entrance. You deserve it, ladies!

Public Transport: London’s public transport is excellent for hen parties. The Tube connects pretty much everywhere you’ll want to go and many stations are just a short walk from the main areas. Buses are reliable and often run late into the night, especially along popular tourist routes. Oyster cards or contactless payment make hopping on and off easy, especially when everyone’s juggling drinks, coats and bags.

Parking: Driving in London is possible, but parking is very limited and expensive. There are secure multi-storey car parks in key areas, including Victoria, Southbank and Shoreditch and many hotels offer discounted rates if you book ahead. On-street parking exists but is mostly for short stays and gets filled up very quickly, so it’s definitely better to plan in advance rather than cruising around hunting for a space, especially with a group of hens in tow.

Things to Do in London

London is jam-packed with activities that make it the perfect place for a hen weekend. It’s so easy to fill your days here with fun, laughter, selfies and a bit of indulgence. For a classic London experience, take a walk along the Southbank for stunning views of the London Eye, the Shard, and Tower Bridge. Stop for a cheeky selfie outside the iconic Tower of London or Buckingham Palace. Nothing says London hen party like a group photo with the Queen’s guard in the background.

For a bit of culture, visiting the West End is a must. You can watch a hit musical or comedy show, sip cocktails during an immersive theatre performance or explore quirky exhibitions at the Tate Modern or the Victoria and Albert Museum. If your group loves a bit of retail therapy, Covent Garden and Oxford Street are perfect for browsing and indulging your inner shopaholic.

When it comes to unique London experiences, you can’t miss a river cruise on the River Thames, a ride on the London Eye for unbeatable skyline views or a wander through quirky. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg. There really is something here for every kind of group, whatever you’re into and whatever your budget.
